At 4pm today, a courtroom mystery first staged in London in 1953 will take the stage at Alliance Française de Bangalore. Bhaskar Gauribidanur’s revival of Agatha Christie’s *Witness for the Prosecution* has a second performance at 7.30pm.
The play follows Leonard Vole, a man accused of murdering an elderly woman, as he attempts to establish his innocence. Gauribidanur plays defence counsel Sir Wilfried Robarts; Vinayashree Jagadeesh appears as Romaine Heilger and Abhinav Narayanan as Leonard Vole.
The director has retained Christie’s original adaptation rather than relocating it to an Indian setting. The production is a revival of Gauribidanur’s 2005 staging, which won Best Director and Best Actor at the Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards in 2006.
Tickets start at ₹499. Two further shows are scheduled at Jagriti Theatre on October 31.
