Dharavi Experience Centre opens with 350 sq ft rehabilitation flat model

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated a 22,500 sq ft centre in Mumbai where Dharavi residents can view proposed homes and neighbourhood plans for the redevelopment project.

Mumbai’s Dharavi Experience Centre displays 350 sq ft and 500 sq ft home models. Eligible residents may receive 350 sq ft free, subject to survey criteria.

A life-size 350 sq ft rehabilitation flat is on display at Mumbai’s Dharavi Experience Centre, which Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis opened on Gandhi Jayanti.

The 22,500 sq ft facility allows residents to walk through furnished and unfurnished models of proposed 350 sq ft and 500 sq ft homes. Digital screens, interactive exhibits and a 3D walkthrough present proposed residential areas, workplaces, roads, public amenities, transport facilities and open spaces.

Fadnavis also unveiled an anthem for Dharavi and released a coffee-table book on the area’s history, businesses, culture and entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Under the project framework, eligible residential tenement holders in the Dharavi Notified Area are proposed to receive 350 sq ft of carpet area free of cost. Officials are assessing eligibility through an ongoing survey and government-prescribed criteria.

The Dharavi Redevelopment Project/Slum Rehabilitation Authority is implementing the scheme, while Adani Navbharat Developers Private Limited is executing it. The project website says more than 99,000 homes have been numbered and over 91,000 surveyed.
