Four teams will check whether sewage treatment plants at 72 residential societies are operating and meeting wastewater-treatment standards.
HSPCB has formed four teams to inspect sewage treatment plants at 72 residential societies in north Gurugram and may recommend action for non-compliance.
Four Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) teams will inspect sewage treatment plants (STPs) at 72 residential societies in north Gurugram over the next few weeks.
Led by sub-divisional officers Aarzu, Ashish, Kamesh and Vishal, the teams will check whether the plants are operational and whether they treat wastewater properly before reuse or discharge.
The inspection area includes Udyog Vihar, Old Gurugram, New Gurugram, and the stretch from Alwar-Sohna Road towards Farrukhnagar-Jhajjar Road through Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk and Basai village.
The exercise follows the suspension of HSPCB officials in Gurugram after complaints about the management of sewage-treatment facilities in the city.
HSPCB’s north Gurugram regional officer Harish Kumar said the teams will send their findings to the board’s Panchkula headquarters. Facilities found not to meet requirements may face action, including environmental compensation or penalties, he said.
