JP Nagar’s Beku Books joins the Sunday Letter Project

Beku Books in JP Nagar is a Letter-Keeper for the Sunday Letter Project, a global exchange centred on handwritten post.

The JP Nagar bookstore collects, sends and holds handwritten letters for Sunday Letter Project participants, who can find pen pals without sharing home addresses.

Beku Books in JP Nagar is collecting and holding handwritten letters for participants in the Sunday Letter Project, a global writing initiative founded in England in 2025.

The project began with a pledge to write one letter every Sunday and uses participating shops as regional collection points. Beku Books is listed as a Letter-Keeper for the project.

At the bookstore, visitors can read introductory letters from prospective pen pals. They can photograph a letter and its Letter-Keeper address, write back, and begin a correspondence. The shop sends letters to Letter-Keepers abroad and holds incoming post until recipients collect it.

The system offers an alternative to sharing home addresses. Participants are asked not to include phone numbers, addresses or social-media handles. Advertising is not allowed, and letters must be kind and respectful.

Head curator Premsakhi Mokkapati said regular customers have begun sending letters overseas and collecting replies at the shop. Beku Books is also planning events to encourage more people to write letters.
