MS Dhoni said Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been the stronger side over the past two IPL seasons, following title wins in 2025 and 2026.
At a Bengaluru healthcare event, MS Dhoni praised RCB’s recent IPL form and said Chennai Super Kings need fitter players and clearer roles in 2027.
MS Dhoni said Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been the stronger team over the past two IPL seasons while speaking at a healthcare event in Bengaluru.
“There is no point shying away from the fact” that RCB have done “really, really well”, Dhoni said. He noted that RCB won IPL titles in 2025 and 2026 under captain Rajat Patidar, while Chennai Super Kings finished last in 2025 and eighth in 2026.
Dhoni said RCB had won four of their past five meetings with CSK. He did not play in IPL 2026 because of fitness issues.
For CSK to improve in 2027, Dhoni said the side would need a fitter squad and clearer roles for players. “The real test of character is when you’re not doing well,” he said.
Dhoni also described Bengaluru as a high-scoring venue where even mistimed shots can clear the boundary. Bowlers face pressure there, he said, but receive credit when they perform well. He said he hoped CSK’s next Bengaluru match against RCB would be a close contest for spectators.
