Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inspected a trial run of the proposed Namo Yamuna Cruise Safari, a six-kilometre service expected to carry 30 passengers per trip.
Delhi has begun trials for a 30-seat cruise between Sonia Vihar and Jagatpur, with a formal launch planned for the first week of November.
A 30-seat cruise travelled the proposed Sonia Vihar–Jagatpur route on Monday as Delhi prepared to launch the Namo Yamuna Cruise Safari in November.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inspected the trial run of the service, planned along an approximately six-kilometre stretch of the Yamuna. Each round trip is expected to take 35 to 45 minutes.
The Chief Minister’s Office said trials will continue for around a week before preparations begin for a formal launch in the first week of November.
The project site is also expected to include food kiosks, a restaurant, a children’s zone and other public amenities. Gupta said the service could create tourism and employment opportunities, while river cleanliness and environmental protection would need equal attention.
