DLF-2 residents seek power-network overhaul after outages and pole-fire concerns

Several electricity poles in DLF-2 carry tightly packed meter clusters and loosely hanging cables, residents say, and some wiring runs close to the ground from meters fixed on walls.

During the monsoon, they fear waterlogging could bring damaged cables or loose connections into contact with water, increasing the risk of short circuits, fires and electric shocks. Residents said poles and meter clusters have caught fire at several points in the colony, with fire personnel and quick-response teams preventing major damage in some instances.

Ishwar Kewalramani, a DLF-2 resident, said outages are also frequent, making summer heat and humidity harder to manage. Residents have sought secure meter panels, repairs or replacement of old connections, and transformer augmentation where required.

DHBVN superintending engineer Manoj Yadav said the existing transformer capacity was sufficient and extra transformers had been installed where needed. He said outdoor meters were installed in line with Haryana government policy and that there was no issue with their installation.
