Mumbai’s seven water-supply reservoirs were at 95.50% of their combined useful capacity at 6 am on October 4, BMC’s Hydraulic Engineer’s Department said.
The reservoirs held 13,82,265 million litres, against total useful storage of 14,47,363 million litres. Storage was down from 95.84% on October 3.
Modak Sagar, at 75.19%, had the lowest level among the seven reservoirs. Tansa was at 93.91%; Upper Vaitarna at 96.60%; Middle Vaitarna at 99.60%; Bhatsa at 97.82%; and Tulsi at 98.12%. Vehar was at 100%.
The southwest monsoon withdrew from Mumbai on October 3, five days before its normal withdrawal date. Mumbai City recorded rainfall 7% below normal for the season, while Mumbai Suburban recorded 9% above normal.
On October 4 last year, reservoir storage was 99.10%. It was 99.42% on the same date in 2024.
