Central Railway inspects two upgraded Mumbai EMU rakes

Two upgraded EMU rakes inspected during a cleanliness campaign include compartments intended for senior citizens and refreshed first-class seating.

Central Railway inspected two upgraded Mumbai EMU rakes on October 2, with senior-citizen compartments, emergency systems and refreshed seating.

Central Railway General Manager Rajeev Shrivastava inspected two upgraded EMU rakes at platforms 2 and 3 on October 2. The rakes include modified compartments intended for senior citizens.

Central Railway said the rakes have communication systems for passengers during emergencies. First-class coaches have received standard cushioned seats, while the driving cabs have refurbished look-out glasses and new sealing to prevent water entry.

The coaches carry images of Mahatma Gandhi and Swachhata Pakhwada messages inside and outside. Central Railway said protective fleet-graphics film has been applied to internal panels, and window louvers and stainless-steel grills have been cleaned and buffed.

Shrivastava also inspected a diesel locomotive with Gandhi- and cleanliness-themed artwork at platform 8, followed by upgraded Janshatabdi Express coaches. The programme included a Waste To Art exhibition and a street play by artistes from Mumbai Division and the Matunga/Parel workshops.
