Bandra’s Pomodoro expands handmade pasta restaurant to 60-plus seats

Pomodoro opened in Bandra in early 2025 with 28 seats and has expanded to a restaurant with more than 60 seats, centred on handmade pasta.

Bandra’s Pomodoro has expanded from 28 to more than 60 seats, with chef Afshaa Rajkotwala’s menu focused on handmade pasta and Japanese-Italian dishes.

Pomodoro opened in Bandra in early 2025 with 28 seats, handmade pasta and a kitchen close enough for diners to watch dough being made. Chef Afshaa Rajkotwala and her sister, Nousheen, have since expanded the restaurant to more than 60 seats while keeping the menu compact.

Rajkotwala said they wanted pasta to be the reason for a meal out, rather than one item alongside pizza and other Italian staples. “We wanted to break the notion that Italian food is only fancy, luxurious or to be enjoyed with a side of wine,” she said.

The menu includes Japanese-Italian combinations, known as Itameshi. Dishes include gnocchi with Japanese curry and furikake, and handmade chittara with miso, chilli and butter, with katsu chicken or eggplant as options.

Rajkotwala said customers have been asking about pasta shapes, whether the pasta is freshly made, its origins and why particular sauces are paired with it.
