Rain leaves commuters wading through flooded stretches across Delhi-NCR

Students were seen wading through knee-deep water in Sangam Vihar on Monday as heavy rain flooded roads across Delhi-NCR.

At the Zakhira underpass, commuters moved through waist-deep water; a mini-truck was stranded and people dragged two-wheelers through the flooded stretch. Waterlogging was also reported near New Ashok Nagar Metro station, Burari, CR Park and Alaknanda, where rain had already disrupted traffic earlier this month.

In Gurgaon, traffic slowed on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway and NH-48. Water also accumulated at Vatika Chowk, where people pushed a car through the flooded road. Faridabad and parts of Noida reported rain-related disruption as well.

Delhi airport operations were affected, with 15 Delhi-bound flights diverted, including two international services. Eleven of the flights were diverted to Jaipur.

Between 8.30am and 11.30am, Chhatarpur received 28mm of rain, the highest recorded in Delhi during that period. Lodi Road logged 24.6mm and Pitampura 18.5mm. The IMD's red and orange alerts cover heavy to moderate rain, thunderstorms and winds up to 40 kmph.
