Mumbai: 125 NSS volunteers hold peace march from Valia College

NSS students from three Mumbai colleges held a two-hour peace march and staged a street play in Kapashwadi on 4 October.

The march began at Valia College and travelled via D.N. Nagar Police Station, C.E.S. Road and Juhu Circle before returning to campus. Volunteers also performed a play titled “Stop War and Affirm Peace” at the college quadrangle and in Kapashwadi.

At 9.30am on 4 October, 125 NSS volunteers set off from the Valia College parking area on a peace march through D.N. Nagar and Juhu.

Students from Valia College, Dahanukar Commerce and SPDT College walked via D.N. Nagar Police Station, C.E.S. Road and Juhu Circle before returning to the college at 11.30am. The march was part of the 4th World March for Peace and Non-Violence, a global campaign held from 21 September to 4 October. Volunteers raised slogans calling for peace, unity and non-violence.

The NSS unit also staged a street play, *Stop War and Affirm Peace*, at the college quadrangle and in Kapashwadi, the college's adopted area. The performance focused on the effects of war and violence, and called for dialogue, compassion and mutual understanding. Nearly 250 people watched the play and joined the volunteers in raising slogans.

World Without War and Violence supported the programme. Valia College officials and NSS coordinators also participated.
