Delhi EV charging: 382 sites approved, first tender planned, says Sood

The Ministry of Heavy Industries has approved 382 Delhi sites for electric-vehicle charging infrastructure, with tenders for 160 to 180 high-readiness locations due next.

Delhi has 382 approved EV-charging sites from 456 identified locations. Tenders for 160 to 180 rollout-ready sites are planned next.

Delhi has received approval for 382 locations where electric-vehicle charging infrastructure can be set up, Power Minister Ashish Sood said on Sunday.

The Revenue Department and Delhi Transport Corporation identified 456 potential sites. Under the Delhi EV Policy, notified on June 30, officials reassessed the approved locations over the past three months and categorised them for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers.

The government plans to invite tenders for 160 to 180 sites considered ready for rollout. KPMG has been engaged as the project management unit, and the site reassessment is complete, Sood said.

Sood said the deployment plan prioritises power availability, grid feasibility and charging requirements for different vehicle types. Three-wheelers and N1 light commercial vehicles are to move to 100% electric registrations from January 1, 2027, followed by two-wheelers from April 1, 2028.
