A pedestrian corridor along LK Mehta Marg was inaugurated on October 11 as the first completed work under the Bandra Bay Beautification Initiative.

Godrej Properties and RC Group inaugurated the corridor with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Ashish Shelar, Maharashtra’s minister for electronics, information technology, artificial intelligence and cultural affairs and the Bandra West MLA, inaugurated the facility.

The project partners said the corridor is intended to make walking safer and easier in the Bandra Bay area. They described it as the first phase of a broader waterfront public-space plan.

The proposed later elements include a green promenade, open lawns, a pet park, reading zone, amphitheatre, mini golf course, and sports and activity zone. The inauguration programme included stationary cycling, a walking challenge, Zumba, yoga, face painting, pottery and diya painting.

The project partners have proposed these spaces as subsequent stages of the Bandra Bay plan.
