Yogesh Singh has begun a second five-year term as Delhi University vice-chancellor. The university said the reappointment follows a 2023 provision.
Yogesh Singh began his second consecutive five-year term as Delhi University’s vice-chancellor on October 8, after completing his first term the previous day.
A university notification said the President of India, acting as the university’s Visitor, reappointed Singh under Statute 11-F. The Ministry of Education’s Department of Higher Education conveyed the decision to the university in a letter dated July 2.
Singh became Delhi University’s 23rd vice-chancellor in 2021. The university said a 2023 amendment to Statute 11-F(4) allows an incumbent vice-chancellor to be reappointed for another five-year term, and that Singh is the first to be appointed again under the provision.
If he completes the term, Singh will remain vice-chancellor until October 2031.
Before joining Delhi University, Singh served as vice-chancellor of Delhi Technological University from July 2016 to July 2021. He was director of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology from December 2014 to July 2016.
