BMTC plans to share live bus data with Namma Yatri, Tummoc and BIAL

BMTC is working on giving three mobility platforms real-time information on Bengaluru bus routes, schedules, stops and fares.

The first phase of the proposed data-sharing initiative would cover Namma Yatri, Tummoc and Bengaluru International Airport Limited. If integration is completed, commuters could track BMTC buses and plan trips that combine buses with Metro and last-mile services in fewer apps.

BMTC is preparing to share real-time information on its buses with Namma Yatri, Tummoc and Bengaluru International Airport Limited, a move that could make it easier to plan a bus-to-Metro trip or an airport journey.

The corporation is discussing the integration with the three platforms. Once it is complete, users would be able to track BMTC buses through their apps, a senior BMTC official said. BMTC expects to provide route, stop, schedule and fare details in General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) format, a standard used for public-transport data.

For passengers changing modes, the data could allow apps to suggest combinations of a BMTC bus, Namma Metro and an autorickshaw instead of requiring separate searches. BIAL could use the information in its BLR Pulse app to show Vayu Vajra airport-bus services for travel to and from Kempegowda International Airport.

BMRCL already shares Metro operational data with external mobility apps. BMTC has also expanded its own digital offering through Namma BMTC Mobile App 2.0, which includes bus tracking, ticketing, digital passes and Metro ticket purchases.
