17 Delhi Police personnel selected for Independence Day police medals

Seventeen Delhi Police personnel were selected for police medals ahead of Independence Day, including two for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.

Additional commissioner of police (traffic) Dinesh Kumar Gupta and sub-inspector Rajesh Kumar were selected for the distinguished-service medal. Gupta oversees traffic arrangements for major public events and previously received the Medal for Meritorious Service in 2018.

Fifteen Delhi Police personnel were selected for the Medal for Meritorious Service, which recognises valuable service marked by resource and devotion to duty. The recipients include Joint CP (Crime) Surender Kumar, Joint CP (Economic Offences Wing) Nupur Prasad and inspector (steno) Tara Dutt.

Kumar has worked on policing and technology initiatives, including the e-beat book, cyber-awareness campaigns and the implementation of new criminal laws. Prasad has served in Delhi Police and the CBI, and has led work linked to women’s safety, cyber awareness and drug de-addiction. Dutt handled documentation and coordination during official events, including the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections and MCD byelections.

Twenty-one CBI personnel were also selected for police medals: six for the distinguished-service medal and 15 for the meritorious-service medal.
