Bengaluru artists Isha Valentine and Vidhya Venkatappa show at MKF

A highway in a bottle, noise-cancelling headphones beside seashells, and panels resembling script on gold leaf sit within two Bengaluru artists’ reflections on what people choose to hold on to.

On Things That Matter brings together works by Isha Valentine and Vidhya Venkatappa at MKF Museum of Art. Valentine’s pieces draw on overlapping memories, time and relationships, examining ideas including responsibility, ambition and coexistence. A four-panel work uses gold leaf to consider what one generation leaves the next, beyond physical assets.

Venkatappa’s paintings combine found-object imagery and metaphors shaped by her explorations of self-identity, womanhood and motherhood. Created largely over the past three years, the works also place signs of urbanisation alongside heritage structures and elements from the natural world. Dragonflies recur in her canvases as quiet, hardworking presences in an ecosystem.

The exhibition runs until September 30. Entry is free; the museum is closed on Mondays.
