Juhu visarjan rush brings traffic curbs on key approach roads

Large Ganpati idols, dhol-tasha groups and devotees moved towards Juhu Chowpatty on Friday for Anant Chaturdashi immersions, bringing restrictions on several roads around the beach.

Mumbai Police have placed diversions and no-parking measures on stretches including J.P. Road, Achyutrao Patwardhan Marg, Juhu-Versova Link Road and S.V. Road. Juhu Tara Road and Juhu Church Road are also affected, with restrictions changing according to the movement of processions. Motorists are being advised to avoid non-essential trips through the area and allow extra travel time.

More than 24,000 police personnel have been deployed across Mumbai for immersion-day security and traffic management, including the Rapid Action Force, State Reserve Police Force, Quick Response Teams, riot-control squads and anti-drone units.

The BMC has arranged 67 natural immersion sites and 383 artificial ponds across the city, with over 25,000 civic personnel deployed for operations. The police have asked residents and visitors to follow traffic and security instructions at immersion routes and sites.
