Kempegowda International Airport is testing Digi Yatra at entry and security for select IndiGo and Air India international departures.
Passengers on select IndiGo and Air India international departures from Kempegowda International Airport can now take part in a Digi Yatra trial at terminal entry and security.
The face-enabled system asks travellers to validate their identity through their e-passport chip on the Digi Yatra app, followed by photo verification. Bangalore International Airport Limited said the aim is to reduce repeated document checks at participating touchpoints.
For now, the trial is limited to entry and security. It may later be extended to boarding for selected international flights. Immigration and emigration procedures are not part of the system, and travellers must still carry the documents required for their journey.
Airlines will also continue mandatory document verification at designated counters. Digi Yatra, already used on domestic flights across India, has more than 26.5 million users.
