NDMC readies Chanakyapuri’s BRICS Friendship Rose Garden for summit visitors

The BRICS Friendship Rose Garden on Satya Marg, Chanakyapuri, is getting a fresh round of pruning, landscaping and floral displays before New Delhi hosts the BRICS summit on September 12–13.

NDMC, which manages the roughly three-acre garden, said its teams are cutting grass, trimming hedges and topiaries, and cleaning the walking paths, water channels and colourful fountains. Established in 2016 for the BRICS summit hosted by India that year, the garden has 107 varieties of rose plants and hosts a rose event each spring.

The work extends beyond the garden to the Chanakyapuri Diplomatic Enclave and surrounding VIP routes. NDMC plans floral boards at 15 major locations and floral fountains at nine prominent spots. More than 15,000 potted plants grown in its nurseries are being placed along major roads, intersections and roundabouts.

The civic body said it is also using layered planting of shrubs, trees and ornamental plants to fill barren patches along important avenues.
