DDU Marg box contained artificial skeleton, Delhi Police say

A wooden box found near Kali Mata Mandir on DDU Marg prompted a police response on Saturday after it was found to contain an old assembled skeletal structure.

Forensic and crime teams examined the material at the spot and found that it comprised artificial bones, not human remains, police said. Officers found no bloodstains or other apparently suspicious material on or around the box.

Police said their preliminary inquiry traced the material to Government Boys Senior Secondary School on Mata Sundari Road, where it had been sold as scrap with other old and broken items.

The school principal told police that the institution moved to a new building in 2023 and disposed of material from its earlier premises during a cleanliness drive in July 2026. Police said the artificial skeleton may have been used for educational or laboratory purposes and found no prima facie indication of a criminal offence.
