Gurugram RWA ordered to allow EWS residents into Mahindra Aura’s park and common pathways

Kashmir Singh, 70, and his wife Meena Rani must be allowed to use the park, internal roads and common pathways at Mahindra Aura in Sector 110, the district registrar has directed.

Singh approached authorities on August 31 after he alleged that the residents’ welfare association had stopped him and his wife from entering the society park. He said he had also complained to the Gurugram deputy commissioner during a Samadhan Shivir.

In an order issued on September 15, district registrar (firms and societies) Arpit Gehlawat told the RWA, its office-bearers and security staff not to restrict Singh or other residents of the economically weaker section block from common internal roads, pathways, parks and open green spaces. The order also said residents should not face intimidation, misbehaviour or discriminatory policing by management members or security personnel.

Mahindra Aura has 599 flats, including 141 EWS units. RWA president SS Gill denied the allegations, saying EWS flat owners do not have rights over common areas under the complex’s bylaws and cannot become RWA members. The association plans to appeal the order in Chandigarh.
