Gurugram: Potholes, parked cars narrow Sirhaul-Kapashera road

Commuters entering Udyog Vihar from the Kapashera side are slowing for potholes, uneven patches and a raised manhole cover.

The nearly 1.5-km road between Sirhaul and the Kapashera border is an access route for offices in Udyog Vihar phases 1, 2 and 3. Cars and buses parked along its edges narrow the carriageway and create bottlenecks during busy hours. Streetlights on the stretch are not functioning, making damaged sections harder for motorists to spot after dark.

The road was resurfaced in 2024, when a footpath and surface drain were also built at an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore. Parts of the footpath are now broken or obstructed by garbage, pushing pedestrians closer to traffic. Loose dirt and broken road surfaces also create dust as vehicles pass.

Praveen Yadav, president of the Gurgaon Udyog Association, said potholes were adding to dust pollution and commute delays. A GMDA official said patchwork is underway across the city and will include the Udyog Vihar road. The agency is also working with Raahgiri on a road and footpath design for the stretch.
