Monday morning traffic from the Hosur side, roadwork and water-clearing near the railway track slowed the Chandapura stretch.
Commuters reported delays of nearly two hours on Chandapura Road on Monday morning. Police said traffic eased after more than two hours.
Commuters travelling through Chandapura on Monday morning reported delays of nearly two hours as traffic from the Hosur side joined the office and school rush.
Rajesh K., a local resident, said he left home at 7 a.m. and was delayed by nearly two hours. “Even two-wheelers had no space to move,” he said.
Some students, including those scheduled to take examinations that day, reached school nearly three hours late. School buses and vans were also caught in the queue, residents said, adding that alternate routes were unavailable.
Roadwork and poor road conditions had already slowed traffic on the stretch. Near the railway track, police and civic workers cleared stagnant rainwater from part of the narrow road, further reducing available space.
Traffic police managed the queue and said movement returned to normal after more than two hours. A traffic police officer said widening the two-lane section near the railway track to four lanes could help reduce similar bottlenecks.
