MCD clears road sweepers, Kingsway Camp medical college proposal

The MCD standing committee has approved procurement of 70 mechanical road-sweeping machines, including 10 years of operation and maintenance for roads under the civic body.

At the meeting chaired by Satya Sharma, the panel also cleared a public-private partnership proposal for a medical college and associated hospital at Kingsway Camp. It approved conservation and adaptive reuse work at the Town Hall complex in Chandni Chowk, a revised layout plan for DDU Marg, replacement and maintenance of public lights, and a one-month extension of the One-Time Property Tax Amnesty Scheme 2025-26.

The committee asked officials to identify play schools operating without authorisation and take action. It also directed inspections of unauthorised food carts and open tandoors on roads and in public spaces. Councillors said these were obstructing traffic and contributing to smoke and pollution.

Sharma said the MCD will write to the Delhi government seeking land for new gaushalas to move stray and abandoned cattle from roads. The panel also called for fogging and dengue and malaria awareness drives in vulnerable areas.
