GMDA has required developers to seek approval for footpath work in Gurugram’s right of way to keep manholes accessible and improve repairs.
GMDA has directed developers and builders to obtain approval before constructing footpaths within the right of way in Gurugram.
The direction follows cases in which footpath construction covered manholes, making them difficult to locate during maintenance. Before approving a proposal, the concerned GMDA engineer must examine the footpath cross-section and ensure that manholes remain visible and accessible.
GMDA CEO PC Meena also asked executive engineers to inspect footpaths in their assigned areas and carry out repairs without delay. They must report the kilometres repaired each day and set targets for the following day.
Repair work should also cover adjoining road gullies, Meena said. Manhole levels must match nearby roads and footpaths to avoid uneven surfaces for pedestrians. The directions also require protection of existing trees and greenery during footpath work.
