
Western Railway said a three-day cleaning drive covered stations, catering units, drains and offices across its Mumbai Central Division.

The work included descaling 174 toilets at more than 71 stations, cleaning 280 dustbins and clearing over 77 km of drains and water outlets. Teams also deep-cleaned around 140 administrative offices. Scrubber-driers, jet washers, ride-on sweepers and fogging machines were used at 24 stations.
Railway teams inspected and cleaned 780 catering units, 14 pantry cars and three base kitchens. The work also included pest and rodent control in food-storage areas, while teams checked 27 washrooms and bathing areas for functionality.
Western Railway said the total waste collected between October 2 and 5 was nearly eight tonnes. The campaign followed the Swachhata Pakhwada launch at Churchgate. At Virar station, NSS volunteers and Lions Club members staged street plays on responsible waste disposal.
